Pac-10

The roots of the Pacific-10 Conference go back more than 90 years to December 15, 1915, when the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) was founded at a meeting at the Oregon Hotel in Portland, Ore. Original membership consisted of four schools - the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Washington, the University of Oregon, and Oregon State College (now Oregon State University). Over the last 90 years, the Pacific Coast Conference has evolved into the mighty Pacific-10 Conference, which now includes the original four charter members, plus Washington State University, Stanford University, University of Southern California, University of California at Los Angeles, University of Arizona, and Arizona State University. Entering the 2007-08 season, the Pacific-10 Conference continues to uphold its tradition as the "Conference of Champions."® Pac-10 members have claimed an incredible 146 NCAA team titles over the past 17 seasons, for an average of more than eight championships per academic year. In tennis, the Pacific-10 Conference has claimed far more NCAA team titles (49 men's and 17 women's) than any other conference.

ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association)

Long recognized as one of the best organized collegiate sports associations, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association is a non-profit service organization, which serves as the governing body of collegiate tennis in the United States. Administering a comprehensive calendar of tournaments and events and a far-reaching awards program, the goal of the ITA is to improve the level of intercollegiate tennis competition and the quality of college tennis coaching.

USTA/Southern California Section

The USTA/Southern California Section, which was founded in 1887, is one of the 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association. The USTA is a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the game of tennis by offering quality recreational and competitive programs for people of all ages and abilities. Comprising Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties, the SCTA is one of the smallest in area of the USTA's 17 sections. However, the Southern California section is one of the largest contributors of tennis talent and innovative programming.

Ojai Valley residents have long pursued physical and spiritual health, and the City, through its City Council, commissioners and staff, has been instrumental over the years in facilitating and supporting "The Ojai" tennis tournament. In particular, "The Ojai" is deeply indebted to the Ojai Public Works and Recreation Departments for their invaluable services throughout the year, and particularly during the month of April, in preparation for the tournament. The City of Ojai also hosts such well known events as the Ojai Music Festival, its Independence Day parade and fireworks, and many other festivals and events.
