Collegiate Events Information

All Collegiate entries close April 8th, 2011.

Entry forms: Entry forms may be downloaded from the list of collegiate events listed in the menu below. Please return your entry form to the address listed on it.

Fees: Singles: $35.00    Doubles: $40.00 per team.

Fees must be paid at time of entry. Please request a receipt for fees (if needed) at time of entry.

Accommodations: If you need hotel or motel accommodations, please see our Visitor Information page.

Registration: For registration information, please check the information under the Collegiate Events Menu listed below.

Coaches' wrist bands: In lieu of coaches' passes, Collegiate coaches with proper identification and whose player's names appear on the roster will be issued wrist bands. Only one assistant college coach may be registered and his/her name must appear on the entry form. Coaches' spouses, family and friends of players or coaches will be required to purchase spectator tickets to gain entrance to Libbey Park, the Ojai Valley Athletic Club, and the Ojai Valley Inn courts during the hours of play. Players and coaches will be required to present identification to gain entrance at these sites. No tickets or IDs are required at other sites. Wrist bands will be issued at all Ventura and Oxnard sites on Thurday.

Tentative rosters for Collegiate events are usually available on the TennisLink tournament home page (see left-hand menu under Draws/Results) the Sunday before the first day of play.

Draws for these events will be posted on the TennisLink tournament home page as soon as they are available, usually by Tuesday night before the first day of play.

Open to women tennis players from all four-year collegiate institutions not members of the PAC-10.

The Committee Chair for this event is Ann Lebedeff.

Each college or university may enter three singles players and two doubles teams.

Players may play in both of these events, but not in any other event.

In addition to winner and runner-up awards, the Frank T. Heffelfinger Challenge Team Trophy, the Garland Jenks Doubles Trophy, and the Florence H.R. Gorham Singles Trophy will be awarded.

Headquarters for this event will be The Pierpont Racquet Club (PRC). Matches will be played at the Pierpont Racquet Club(PRC) and Ventura College(VC) on Thursday and Friday. Matches will be played in Ojai on Saturday and Sunday. Maps to all sites used by The Ojai can be found on the Court Locations page.

Fifty-Sixth Annual

Men's Independent College Championships

Men's Singles   Men's Doubles

Open to men tennis players from all four-year collegiate institutions not members of the PAC-10 Conference.

The Committee Chair for this event is Mark Bohren.

Each college or university may enter three singles players and two doubles teams.

Players may play in both of these events, but not in any other event.

Doubles matches will be 8 game pro sets until the finals. The finals will be 3rd set super tiebreaker.

In addition to winner and runner-up awards, the William A. Fairburn, Jr. Challenge Team Trophy, the Joseph O. Bixler Doubles Trophy, and the John H. Morrison, Jr. Singles Trophy will be awarded.

Open to men tennis players from any community college in California.

The Committee Chairs for this event are Scott Strange and Nelson Emery.

Each college may enter two singles players and two doubles teams.

Players may play in both of these events, but not in any other event.

Community college eligibility must be certified by the community college athletics directors in accordance with State Community College Athletics Commission rules.

In addition to winner and runner-up awards, the Harry Gorham Memorial Challenge Team Trophy, the Ojai Valley Country Club Singles Trophy, and the Frank T. Heffelfinger Doubles Trophy will be awarded.

Headquarters for this event will be the Oxnard Tennis Club (OTC). Matches will be played at Pacifica High School (PHS) and Oxnard Tennis Club (OTC) on Thursday and Friday.  Matches will be played in Ojai on Saturday and Sunday. Maps to all sites used by The Ojai can be found on the Court Locations page.

In addition to winner and runner-up awards, the Harriet Thacher Herrick Team Trophy, the Ruby Keith Morrison Singles Trophy, and the Cynthia D. Fairburn Doubles Trophy will be awarded.

Headquarters for this event will be Camino Real Park (CRP).  Matches will be played at the Camino Real Park (CRP), Ventura College (VC), and Buena High School (BHS) in Ventura on Thursday and Friday. First Annual

Men's Pac-12 Team Championships

Sanctioned by I.T.A.

The eight PAC-12 schools having Men's tennis programs will compete in a double-bye team tourament, commencing on Wednesday, April 25th, 2012, at Libbey Park(LP) in Ojai. All team matches will be played in the customary dual match format. Two team matches will be played each day, with the final team championship match to be played on Saturday, April 28th.

The Pac-12 Draw Committee Chairs for this event are Vicki Maes (Arizona) and Paul Reber (Oregon).

The Draw Committee selects singles players and doubles teams from those entered by each Pac-12 member. Players may enter both singles and doubles. Play will begin Thursday, April 26th, 2012, at 8:00 a.m., at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club (OAC). Maps to all sites used by The Ojai can be found on the Court Locations web page.

In addition to winner and runner-up awards, the Anson S. Thacher Team Trophy, the Frederick S. Lamb Doubles Trophy, and the Caroline H. Thacher Singles Trophy will be awarded.

Women's Pac-12 Invitational Championships

The Pac-12 Draw Committee selects singles players and doubles teams from those entered by each Pac-12 member.

Players may enter both singles and doubles. Play will begin on Thursday, April 26th, 2012, at 8:00 a.m., at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club (OAC). Maps to all sites used by The Ojai can be found on the Court Locations web page.

Singles entries will be limited to 32 players and doubles to 16 teams.

In addition to winner and runner-up awards, the Gerry & Bob Roe Singles Trophy and the Joe & Mary DeVito Doubles Trophy will be awarded.


Fifteenth Annual

Division III Men's West Regional College Championships

RE: 111th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament

 

The 111th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament will once again be held from April 26-May 1st in the lovely town of Ojai and surrounding areas. For the 15th consecutive year, the Men's Division III event will be a part of this tournament and will start on Friday April 29th at Moranda Park in Port Hueneme. Matches on Saturday and Sunday will be held in Ojai, with both the singles and doubles final being played at historic Libbey Park.

The Men's Division III singles event will consist of a maximum of 56 players, while the Men's Division III doubles event will consist of a maximum of 28 doubles teams (subject to change by the Committee). The singles winner will receive the Ted Ducey Singles Trophy, while the doubles winners will be presented the Jim Verdieck Doubles Trophy. Last year's champions were Brian Pybas (UC Santa Cruz, singles) and Eric MacColl/Brandon Wei (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, doubles)

This year's Ojai Committee will be David Bojalad (Whittier), Will Marino (Chapman), Jeff Northam (Whitman) and Geoff Roche (Redlands)

Entries for the Division III event will close on Sunday April 3rd. ALL ENTRIES FOR DIVISION III EVENTS WILL BE DONE BY E-MAIL.
If you wish to enter players, you must send an e-mail to DarrenP@SCTA.usta.com by April 3rd listing all players you would like to be considered for entry. You must submit your players/teams in order of strength.
The Committee will make their selections by April 4th, in order to allow coaches to make travel plans. The draw will be done on Monday April 25th. Once you have been informed of how many players have been selected, you will need to submit entry fees. The entry fees for the 2011 Ojai are $35 per singles entry and $40 per doubles team. Checks may be made payable to Ojai Valley Tennis Club.

Any players that are not accepted will have the opportunity to participate in the Men's Independent College draw, should you desire to do that. The deadline for the Independent College event is April 7th, please contact Terry Lynch directly at (805) 648-3876 or collegeentry@aol.com to submit your players for the Independent College events. Draws are limited to 32 players.

All matches in singles will be the best of three tiebreak sets. All matches in doubles (with the exception of the finals) will be an 8 game pro-set, tiebreak at 8 games all. The doubles final will play the best of three tiebreak sets with a Deciding Match Tie-Break in lieu of a third set (subject to Committee approval).

As last year, subject to court availability there will be a singles consolation event for players who wish to participate. This will be on Saturday.

FYI, the 2012 Ojai Tournament is scheduled to be held on April 24-29, with the Division III Men's event to start on Friday April 27th.
